President

张均奎医生Dr. Junkui Zhang, a graduate from the Third Military Medical University, Chongqing, China. He came to US as a research fellow of National Research Council in 1994. Now he is an anesthesiologist practicing in Buffalo, New York. Dr Zhang has participated and organized medical missions to China and Dominican Republic. He is wiling to humble himself and to serve ones who need the most.

 
 
 

Founder/Chair of the Board:

徐思海医生Steven Shu, MD, MBA is the founder of Medical Volunteers International (MVI). Dr. Shu graduated from Shanghai Medical University and Graduate School in 1984 and 1987 respectively. He came to study in the United States in the early 1990’s, and he became an attending physician in family Medicine in 2000.

Dr. Shu established One Stop Medical Center and Shu Cosmetic Surgery in 2008. He served as an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine for six years, and he received the Physician E-MBA degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 2005.

Dr. Shu has spent a lot of time and effort establishing the Minnesota Chinese Physician Association and the free Chinese clinic – Minnesota Chinese Health Center in Minneapolis. At the same time, he founded the Chinese community newspaper Minnesota Times.

In 2014, Dr. Shu joined No-Scalpel Vasectomy International, Inc (NSVI), and he organized Medical Volunteers International (MVI) and Surgeon Volunteers in 2017. He has traveled to Haiti, Philippines, and Cambodia for the medical mission trips 13 times in the past 6 years.

 
 

Board Members:

徐俊医生Jun Xu, MD, graduated from Jiangxi College of Chinese Medicine in China in 1984, finished his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from New York Medical College in US in 2000. Currently he practices physical medicine & rehabilitation and acupuncture in Greenwich, CT. He goes to Senegal, West Africa for medical mission almost every year since 2013. He is the chairman for Africa Cries Out, an IRS approved non-profit internal foundation, he works with many colleagues to build up schools and hospitals in Senegal. Dr.Xu is currently serving as MVI Vice President.

 

 

 

陈雄鹰医生Dr. Xiongying Chen (MD, PhD, FHM) graduated from First Military Medical University in 1986. He became a radiologist in Nanfang Hospital for three years. He came to USA in 1986 and received PhD in molecular biology from University of Alabama. He did his internal medicine residency in Atlanta Medical Center from 1996 to 1999 and board certified in internal medicine in 1999. After residency, He became a hospitalist in Jackson hospital in Montgomery, AL and has been the program director for Jackson hospitalist program since 2000. He served as internal medicine department chairman and as chief of staff for the hospital and as chairman for various committee over the years. He was elected as fellow of society of hospital medicine in 2012。 He is one of the cofounder of the society of Chinese American physician entrepreneurs (SCAPE) and is the current secretory. He went to Al Salvador as a medical volunteer for 9 days in 1998.

Dr.Chen is currently serving as Chair of Financial Committee.

 
 

Mrs. Li Tang, M.D., was born at Jinlin, Changchun, China. She presently lives and works at Phnom Penh, Cambodia as CEO of the group of the polyclinics and the board member of the non-profit organization, International Education Institutes [IEI] in Cambodia. 汤丽医生Dr. Li Tang graduated from Yan Bian Medical University in 1984 and continually studied on Neurology at Jinlin University in 1988. She came to the capital city of Phnom Penh in the Kingdom of Cambodia in 1995 and established her own private clinic. Since then, she he has been well acknowledged as a general practitioner and grown up to be a CEO of a medical group. Her medical administrative ability has been noticeably recognized among the Cambodian society as well as at the Chinese society in Cambodia. Dr. Li Tang had established three polyclinics and a few general medical clinics at the major cities of Cambodia with her vision and passion to serve the people of Cambodia as a Christian. Under the execution of her superb gift of medical administration, these clinics with reputable international doctors have been caring the various international patients in Cambodia with integrity and fine reputation. Furthermore, she has been actively involved in and supported the diverse charity works of Protestant mission organizations from various countries such as USA, Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, India, Malaysia, and so forth for assisting church planting, helping medical education and service, and sponsoring of poor families. Dr. Li Tang has been successful not only as a medical practitioner, but also as a CEO of these clinics. Most of all, she has been a useful worker of the Lord, Jesus Christ at the mission field of Cambodia for fulfilling the “Great Commission” of the Lord, Jesus Christ in the cooperation with various missionaries.

Dr.Tang is currently serving as Co-chair of Project Committee.

 


Fan Chen, MD, PhD, graduated from Beijing Medical University/Peking University Health Science Center, MS from Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, PhD and pathology residency training from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)/Rutgers – New Jersey Medical School, Fellow and attending at NYU Langone Medical Center, Staff Pathologist at BioReference Laboratories Inc. Co-chair of Newsletter Committee at Chinese American Pathologists Association (CAPA) and Chair of Communication Committee at Alliance of North American Chinese Physicians (ANACP).

Dr.Chen is currently serving as Co-chair of Communication Committee.

 
 
 


Haibin Wang is board-certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine. He also has neurosurgery background. He currently works as a pain management physician in Meadville Medical Center in Pennsylvania. Inspired by those pioneers in MVI, he started his journey as a medical volunteer in 2018. His first mission trip to Haiti was eye-opening experience. He will have his next mission trip to Cambodia in early 2020. He is passionate about serving those need the most and he feel honored to be part of MVI.

 
 
 


Jeri Mao, board certified internist since 2002. Has worked at Adult Medicine at TPMG San Jose since 2202. Prior to come to US, was trained as Ophthalmologist in China. Graduated from Shanxi Medical University in 1986. Complete Internal Medicine Training in Willam Beaumont Army Medicine Center in US. Love and enjoy being physician. Also love Medical volunteer work. Often volunteer at CTTB clinic in California. Also did multiple international Medical Missions included Haiti, Paraguay, Cambodia, India. Hope can bring Gods love to more people.
